About me.

Full-time optimist, part-time hedonist. If my brief experience on this earth has taught me anything, it’s that life is too short to play it safe. Ask questions, take risks and explore. Your inner child will reward you.

Thoughts of a ‘fishbird’ is dedicated to all the wonderful contradictions in the world. The product of an interracial marriage, I’ve been exploring contrasting worldviews from day one. My ability to wholeheartedly embrace polarizing perspectives followed me into academia, where my artistic and intellectual interests fought like betta fish for my full attention. Instead of choosing, I passionately pursued books and the arts by packing 28 hours worth of daily activity into 24 during most of my adolescence. (Read: Over-scheduled American youth before “experts” realized this phenomena was causing burnout by age 15.)

Today I live in Brooklyn, where histories, cultures and socio-economics clash on street corners and halogen-lit subway cars 8.3 million times per day.
