Thoughts of a ‘fishbird’ is dedicated to all the wonderful contradictions in the world. The product of an interracial marriage, I’ve been exploring contrasting worldviews from day one. My ability to wholeheartedly embrace polarizing perspectives followed me into academia, where my artistic and intellectual interests fought like betta fish for my full attention. Instead of choosing, I passionately pursued books and the arts by packing 28 hours worth of daily activity into 24 during most of my adolescence. Today I live in Brooklyn, where histories, cultures and socio-economics clash on street corners and halogen-lit subway cars 8.3 million times per day.
